HubSpot vs Salesforce vs Zoho vs GoHighLevel: what they really cost in 2026

Salesforce renamed its editions on 3 September 2026 and its own website has not finished agreeing with itself. Some pages show Core $195, Advanced $395 and Max $550. Others still show Enterprise $175 and Unlimited $350. Both are live right now.
A useful place to start on HubSpot vs Salesforce vs Zoho vs GoHighLevel, because the sticker price is the easy part and almost never the number you pay.
Below is every published price for these four as of September 2026, then the things that decide your bill: mandatory onboarding fees, contact tiers that escalate on their own, support charged as a percentage of licences, and metered usage nobody quotes in advance.

Three of those four charge per person. GoHighLevel charges a flat fee with unlimited users, and that matters more than any feature list here.
How to read the Salesforce edition change honestly
Salesforce announced the restructure on 3 September 2026. Enterprise and Unlimited are being replaced by Core, Advanced and Max. Six days later the US pricing page shows the new names while other Salesforce pages still list the old ones, including Agentforce 1 Sales at $550.
Existing customers on legacy editions keep their pricing, so a quote of Enterprise at $175 per user a month is not necessarily wrong. Get the edition name written into any quote, because Enterprise and Core are not the same product at the same price.
This is the second move in about a year. Salesforce raised prices by an average of 6% on Enterprise and Unlimited editions of Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Field Service and select Industries Clouds effective 1 August 2025.
HubSpot: onboarding is mandatory and contact tiers escalate by themselves
Onboarding is not optional above Starter. HubSpot's catalog states that "Onboarding is required for a one time fee of $3,000 / $7,000" for Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise. Sales Hub carries $1,500 at Professional and $3,500 at Enterprise. Published range: $1,500 to $7,000, paid before you send a single email.
Marketing contacts escalate automatically. Published schedule as of September 2026:
| Tier | Contacts included | Cost of additional contacts |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 1,000 | $50 per 1,000 from 1,001 to 3,000, then $45, then $40 per 1,000 |
| Professional | 2,000 | $250 per 5,000 from 2,001 to 22,000, then $225, $200, $175, $150 |
| Enterprise | 10,000 | $100 per 10,000 from 10,001 to 50,000, then $90, $80, $70, $60 |

The worked example: you are on Marketing Hub Starter at $7 per seat a month and you import 4,000 contacts. Your bill becomes $7 per seat plus roughly $150 a month in overage.
The upgrade happens at midnight with no approval step. HubSpot documents that "You are billed for the higher contact tier until your subscription's next renewal date, even if your marketing contact count later drops", and that "Downgrades can only happen at renewal", requested at least five business days beforehand. One afternoon's import locks in a higher bill for the rest of your term.
Salesforce: the licence is the beginning of the price
Premier support costs 30% of net licence fees. Standard is included, Premier is not, and a percentage scales with every seat forever. On ten users at Core that is $7,020 a year on top of $23,400 of licences. Salesforce success plan pricing.
Sales Engagement is a paid add on at $50 per user a month, billed annually. Cadences, the dialer and Inbox live there, and Salesforce states that it is not included in all editions. For a sales team that is rarely optional.
The cheap editions have hard documented limits. Starter allows zero custom objects, zero custom apps and zero custom tabs, 25 custom fields per object and 20 validation rules per object. Pro Suite allows only 5 total and 5 active Flows, 50 custom objects, 100 custom fields per object, 3 custom profiles and 10 permission sets.
Five active Flows is the one to sit with. If your plan involves automating your process, Pro Suite at $100 per user a month gives you five automations. Neither documents a maximum user count, so the ceiling is capability, not headcount. Salesforce publishes no prices for sandboxes, API calls or storage.
GoHighLevel is priced on a different axis entirely
Flat platform fee, unlimited users, unlimited contacts. Starter is $97 a month and caps you at 3 sub accounts. Unlimited at $297 removes the cap. Agency Pro at $497 adds SaaS mode.
That makes it immune to seat creep and contact escalation. Add the whole team, import the whole list, the fee does not move. The cost moves elsewhere:
- Email at $0.675 per 1,000 sent, email validation at $2.50 per 1,000
- Premium workflow triggers and actions at $0.01 per execution
- AI Employee at $50 a month per location on Growth, $97 on Unlimited
- Other add ons from $10 to $500 a month, including HIPAA compliance at $297 a month and a white
label mobile app at $497 a month

Then the honest gap. Phone numbers, SMS, MMS and voice are Twilio pass through rates and HighLevel does not publish them. There is no rate card. So anyone quoting a complete monthly GoHighLevel cost that includes texting is estimating, and should say so. More detail in the GoHighLevel setup cost breakdown.
Zoho is the boring one, and that is the pitch
Zoho CRM starts at $14 per user a month on annual billing, has no seat minimum, publishes no mandatory onboarding fee, and offers monthly billing at every tier. The free edition caps you at 3 users, 10 custom email templates, 10 data exports and 5,000 API calls a day. Local taxes extra.
No trick in the pricing, which here counts as a feature. The caveat is that USD pricing is not reliably served outside the US.
Which one for which business
Based only on documented limits.
HubSpot if your team and list are small and stable. The free tier is permanent, view only seats are free and unlimited on paid portals, and seat minimums went away in March 2024. Avoid it if your list is about to grow fast.
Salesforce if you genuinely need the ceiling, budgeting Premier at 30% and Sales Engagement at $50 per user a month as though they were the licence. Not Starter if you need custom objects. Not Pro Suite if you need more than five active Flows.
Zoho if you want predictable per seat pricing, no onboarding fee, no metering.
GoHighLevel if you have many users or a big list and would rather your cost track messages than headcount. Not if you need a fixed forecastable monthly number.
Full arithmetic for a ten person team is in what a CRM implementation actually costs.
The honest summary
There is no cheapest CRM, only a cheapest CRM for your shape. A ten person team with 2,000 contacts and light automation gets a different answer than a three person team with 40,000 contacts and a heavy texting habit.
Separate three layers before comparing anything: the licence, the non optional fees attached to it, and the metered usage underneath. All four look reasonable at layer one and stop resembling each other below it.
At Calpir we build and run these systems, so if you want a second opinion before signing a year, our CRM and sales systems page explains how we work and the free assessment is a decent start. I am equally happy to tell you the one you have is fine.
Frequently asked questions
Is HubSpot more expensive than it looks?
Usually, for two published reasons. Professional and Enterprise carry mandatory onboarding fees of $1,500 to $7,000. And marketing contacts sit in tiers that upgrade automatically when you cross them, locking in the higher rate until renewal even if your count drops the following week.
Why do Salesforce prices differ between pages right now?
Because Salesforce restructured its editions on 3 September 2026 and not every page is updated. US pages show Core $195, Advanced $395 and Max $550. Others still show Enterprise $175 and Unlimited $350. Existing customers on legacy editions keep their pricing, so insist on the edition name in writing.
Is GoHighLevel actually cheaper than HubSpot?
It depends on shape. GoHighLevel is flat with unlimited users and contacts, so a big team with a big list pays $97 to $497 a month for the platform. But email, workflow executions and texting are metered on top, and HighLevel publishes no SMS or voice rates, so the total is not knowable up front.
Which CRM has no mandatory setup fee?
As of September 2026, Zoho CRM, Salesforce Sales Cloud and GoHighLevel publish no mandatory onboarding fee. HubSpot does, and states that onboarding is required at Professional and Enterprise. The others still need setup work, there is just no vendor invoice attached by default.
How much does data migration cost on top?
No vendor publishes a list price. HubSpot and Salesforce quote migration privately, and any dollar figure in a comparison article online is unsourced. The only published implementation fees here are HubSpot's onboarding charges.
